NATALIA GAUCHER

President and co-founder

Natalia holds a PhD in international arbitration law, a discipline that she wishes to promote and develop further because of its contribution to the challenges of a globalized world. A specialist in international arbitration law, she has also taught civil law (persons, contracts) and private international law for several years.

Her doctoral thesis, entitled L’office de l'arbitre international à l’épreuve de l'ordre public (The Role of the International Arbitration in Matters of Public Policy), explores the contribution of international arbitrators to safeguarding the public interest in the settlement of international commercial disputes. This work, carried out under the joint supervision of Professor Denis Mouralis (University of Aix-Marseille) and Dr Marie Nioche (University of Paris Nanterre), has enabled her to join dynamic and influential research centres, in particular the Centre de droit économique de l'Université d'Aix-Marseille (CDE) and the Centre de droit international de Nanterre (CEDIN). Natalia has also forged strong academic links with the Swiss Institute of Comparative Law in Lausanne and the Centre de recherche de droit international privé at the University of Paris-Panthéon Assas, through seminars and research visits.

Her commitment to arbitration law goes beyond the academic sphere, and it was this openness that prompted the creation of the Club de l’arbitrage. Together with her team, Natalia is committed to bringing together a dynamic community of academics, professionals and students who share a common interest in arbitration, in order to encourage exchange and collaboration.

Drawing on her experience as a teacher and coach and jury in arbitration moots such as the International Maritime Law Arbitration Moot and the Vis Moot, Natalia is keen to support the next generation of lawyers in projects that bring them together.
